Nizhny Novgorod woos Indian investors at landmark business salon

The Nizhny Novgorod region recently held its first 'business salon' meeting with Indian business leaders. The event aimed to strengthen economic ties and explore new investment opportunities. Representatives from Russian and Indian firms, along with business associations, took part in discussions on trade and cooperation. Deputy Chairman of the regional government, Dmitry Starostin, highlighted Nizhny Novgorod's industrial strengths and investment potential. Indian entrepreneurs showed keen interest in the region as a base for expanding their operations.

The meeting focused on developing joint projects and attracting foreign investment. Key sectors for collaboration included medical equipment manufacturing, agribusiness, education, and high-tech industries. Separate talks were also held with Indian companies about setting up local production and increasing exports. An agreement was signed to boost Asian participation in the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia (CIPR) Forum, scheduled for May 2026. The event encouraged informal networking, allowing entrepreneurs to present projects and find potential partners. Regional authorities plan to expand this format by organising similar meetings with business leaders from other countries in the future.

The business salon provided a platform for direct discussions between Russian and Indian companies. While no official figures on participation or new projects were released, the event marked a step toward deeper economic engagement. Future meetings with international partners are now under consideration to build on this initiative.
