Qualcomm's New Snapdragon Chips Redefine Mid-Range and Budget Phones

Qualcomm has unveiled two new mobile platforms: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. These chips aim to improve performance, photography, and connectivity for mid-range and budget smartphones.

The first devices featuring these processors will arrive in the second half of 2026 from brands like OPPO, realme, Redmi, and Honor. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 targets users who want advanced features. It delivers up to 20% faster app launches and reduces on-screen stutter by 18%. Graphics performance has also improved by 21%, benefiting mobile gamers.

For photography, the chip supports AI-assisted zoom up to 100x and enhanced night-mode capture. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, 5G Release 17, and Bluetooth 6.0.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 focuses on a smooth, everyday experience. Apps launch 43% faster, and on-screen interruptions drop by 25%. Gaming reaches 90 FPS, backed by a 77% boost in GPU performance.

This platform also introduces dual active 5G SIM (DSDA) support and automated photography features. Both chips will power devices from major manufacturers by late 2026. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 brings high-end capabilities like AI zoom and Wi-Fi 7 to mid-range phones. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 enhances reliability for daily tasks with faster speeds and smoother gaming.

Smartphones with these processors will be available from OPPO, realme, Redmi, and Honor in the latter half of 2026.
