Redwire Stock Soars 10% After Securing $10M Space Docking Contract

Shares in Redwire (RDW) climbed by up to 10% this morning after the company secured a major new contract. The deal involves building two advanced docking systems for The Exploration Company (TEC), a rising player in the space sector. Investors have reacted positively, pushing the stock higher for the third day in a row. The eight-figure agreement requires Redwire to deliver two International Docking System Standard (IDSS) compliant units. These will be used for TEC's Nyx spacecraft, the start-up's first orbital service vehicle. The contract is valued at a minimum of $10 million, representing at least 3.4% of Redwire's projected revenue for 2025.

This deal marks Redwire's second docking system for European customers. The first was also for TEC's Nyx spacecraft, announced in mid-January. While the company has supplied other space infrastructure components, this remains its most high-profile European project to date. Analysts see the contract as a boost for Redwire's most profitable division—selling space infrastructure parts to European firms. If TEC's Nyx mission succeeds and the company expands its fleet, further orders could follow. Financial forecasts suggest Redwire will turn free cash flow-positive by 2026, though GAAP profitability isn't expected before 2028.

The new contract strengthens Redwire's position in Europe's growing space market. With shares rising for three straight days, investor confidence appears to be building. The company's next financial milestone remains achieving positive free cash flow in 2026.
