Regional's 2025 loan growth hits 8% as profits climb steadily

Mexican financial group Regional has reported steady growth in 2025, with its loan portfolio expanding by 8% over the year. The company also saw operating profits climb to 2.472 billion pesos, a 7% increase compared to 2024. Analysts now expect further gains in 2026, driven by lending and deposit growth.

Regional's loan portfolio performed strongly in 2025, with corporate lending leading the way. Credit cards, auto financing, and personal loans also grew by over 12% during the year. This expansion outpaced competitors like Banregio, which saw loan growth of 6% to 7%, and Hey Banco, which reported gains exceeding 30%.

The company also expanded its physical presence across Mexico in 2025, moving beyond its traditional base in the north. By the end of the year, it managed over 20 billion pesos in third-party funds. Looking ahead, Regional forecasts net profit to rise by 5% to 10% in 2026, with a return on equity of 18% to 19%.

Lending and deposit growth are both expected to remain between 5% and 10% next year. The projections follow a year of solid financial performance, with operating profits reaching 2.472 billion pesos.

Regional's 2025 results highlight its expansion in lending, deposits, and physical reach. With net profit and return on equity set to improve in 2026, the company aims to maintain steady growth. The focus remains on corporate lending and controlled expansion in key Mexican markets.
