Rocket Lab Soars with $1B Space Force Deal as Stock Climbs 22%
Rocket Lab has secured a major new contract with the U.S. Space Force while its stock price continues to climb. The company's shares rose sharply in December and January, driven by investor optimism and recent mission successes. Analysts have also raised price targets, reflecting growing confidence in the firm's future.
On 18 December, Rocket Lab successfully launched the STP-S30 mission for the U.S. Space Force. That same month, the company completed its first mission for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). These achievements came alongside a new funding agreement with the Canadian Space Agency to strengthen Canada's domestic space capabilities.
The biggest boost, however, came from a fresh U.S. Space Force contract worth at least $806 million. With expansion options and potential add-ons, the deal could eventually reach nearly $1 billion. This news followed SpaceX's announcement of a planned IPO in late 2026, which lifted valuations across the space-tech sector.
Rocket Lab's stock began rising in December, gaining further momentum in January. As of this month, shares are up 21.6%. Analysts at Needham raised their one-year price target from $63 to $90 per share, keeping a buy rating. Stifel also increased its target from $75 to $85, maintaining a similar recommendation. Investors are now eyeing potential Federal Reserve interest rate cuts in 2026, which could push the stock even higher.
The company's recent wins have strengthened its market position and investor appeal. With a billion-dollar finance contract, new international partnerships, and rising stock market valuations, Rocket Lab's growth trajectory appears solid. Analysts and shareholders alike are watching closely as the firm builds on its December successes.
