Russia Launches Annual Space Week to Inspire Future Scientists in 2026
Russia will soon celebrate its space achievements with a new annual event. President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to establish Space Week, starting in 2026. The initiative aims to highlight the country's progress in space exploration and inspire young people to pursue careers in science and engineering.
Space Week will run every year from April 6 to 12, aligning with Russia's Cosmonautics Day. The event seeks to boost interest in space-related professions while fostering generational continuity in the industry. Organisers also plan to showcase cutting-edge technologies and strengthen the prestige of Russia's space sector.
An organising committee, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, will shape the event's agenda. The government will develop an annual plan featuring educational projects, science outreach programmes, and technology exhibitions. Regional authorities have been encouraged to host local activities, ensuring nationwide participation. The week will include themed programmes at major economic forums and a congress for young scientists. Over 130 countries and territories have previously engaged in similar Russian-led events, with finance, energy, and technology being the most represented sectors.
Space Week will begin in 2026, offering a platform for Russia to display its space advancements. The event will provide opportunities for young professionals and researchers to connect with the industry. Regional and national activities will ensure broad engagement across the country.
