A 54-year-old man in Tumnin, Vanino District, has been detained for illegally possessing military ammunition. Authorities discovered 20 rifle cartridges in his home, leading to criminal charges under Russian law.

The man was found with 20 rounds of 7.62×53 mm ammunition, typically used in military rifles. During questioning, he stated that he had picked up the cartridges near Tumnin's railway station but failed to hand them over to police.

Investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers illegal storage of ammunition. After processing, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. He must now comply with travel restrictions and a pledge of good conduct while the case proceeds.

The detained resident remains under investigation for the offence. His claim of finding the ammunition has not altered the legal consequences. The case will move forward in accordance with Russian criminal procedure.
