Russian mother fined after toddler wanders alone into courtyard

A 32-year-old woman in Primorye’s Khankaysky District has been fined after leaving her two young daughters alone at home. The incident, which took place in January, led to the three-year-old wandering outside and being found by a neighbour. The mother now faces ongoing supervision by social services.

The woman left her children, aged three and six, unattended while she went to drink alcohol with a neighbour. During her absence, the younger daughter made her way out of the apartment and into the courtyard of the complex. A concerned neighbour spotted the child and immediately contacted the police.

The girl was taken to hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with bronchitis. Authorities later charged the mother under Article 125 of Russia’s Criminal Code for leaving a minor in danger. She pleaded guilty in court and expressed regret for her actions. The magistrate’s court ruled against her, imposing a fine of 25,000 rubles. Following the case, the Commission on Minors' Affairs placed the woman under supervision for neglectful parenting. Social workers now conduct regular home visits to monitor the family’s situation.

The mother remains under official oversight, with social services checking on the children’s welfare. The court’s decision and fine reflect the seriousness of the neglect. The family will continue to be monitored to prevent further incidents.
