Save the Children Invests $0.5M to Expand Digital Health for Rural Families
Save the Children’s investment arm has backed an Indonesian digital health platform to boost child healthcare. The $0.5m funding will help PrimaKu expand its services to rural families. Early results show the platform significantly improves vaccination rates and nutrition outcomes for children. Save the Children Global Ventures (SCGV) has invested $0.5m in PrimaKu, an Indonesian digital health service. The funds come equally from SCGV’s Australia Fund and its Children’s Impact Multiplier Fund. This marks the first step in a longer partnership, with plans to join PrimaKu’s Series A round in the near future.
PrimaKu’s platform supports parents with vaccination reminders, healthcare advice, and nutrition guidance. Data reveals that families using the service complete childhood vaccinations over three times more often than non-users. Additionally, 96% of children registered on the platform avoid malnutrition. The platform already reaches 1.5 million parents and works with 5,000 paediatricians and 1,500 clinics nationwide. With SCGV’s backing, PrimaKu will now expand into underserved rural areas through Save the Children Indonesia’s community health programmes. SCGV has previously invested in health startups like ThinkMD and Viebeg. This latest move is part of a broader push to launch an Asia Health Fund by 2026. Three more health investments are expected in the coming weeks to build momentum for the fund.
The investment will help PrimaKu scale its services to more families in remote regions. Higher vaccination rates and better nutrition outcomes are expected as a result. SCGV’s involvement also sets the stage for further funding through its upcoming Asia Health Fund.
