South Fayette High smashes records with $351K Mini-THON for pediatric cancer

Students at South Fayette High School have once again broken records with their annual Mini-THON event. This year’s fundraising total reached $351,251.48, setting a new high for the school. The money will support Four Diamonds, a charity aiding children and families affected by pediatric cancer.

The event was organised by the school’s Honors Management class, co-taught by Brandon Flannery and Gary Smith. Together, they secured over $115,000 in sponsorships and oversaw the entire fundraiser. Leading the effort were seniors Paige Deklewa, Luke Gillen, and Hannah Yeh, who guided their peers through months of planning.

Nearly **40 teachers volunteered overnight** to keep the event running smoothly. Flannery later described the atmosphere as 'unbelievable,' with students and staff working tirelessly for the cause. For Yeh, the event held extra significance—it marked her final year participating before graduation. This year’s total surpasses last year’s **$350,492.58**, cementing South Fayette’s position as the top-fundraising Mini-THON in the country for the **fourth year in a row**. Over the past four years alone, the school has raised **over $1 million** for pediatric cancer research.

The funds raised will go directly to Four Diamonds, providing critical support for children battling cancer and their families. South Fayette’s consistent success in fundraising highlights the school’s dedication to the cause. The event’s organisers and volunteers have once again demonstrated their ability to unite for a meaningful impact.
