Standard Chartered and TP ICAP launch regulated digital asset trading for institutions

Standard Chartered and TP ICAP have joined forces to offer a new digital asset service to their shared clients. The partnership combines TP ICAP's market infrastructure with Standard Chartered's regulated custody solutions. Both firms aim to make digital asset trading more accessible for institutional investors.

Under the agreement, Standard Chartered will act as the digital asset custodian and settlement agent for TP ICAP's Fusion Digital Assets platform. This platform, operated by TP ICAP E&C Limited, is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for crypto asset activities. The collaboration also supports TP ICAP's plans to expand its matched principal trading services.

Duncan Trenholme, Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Digital Assets at TP ICAP, highlighted the significance of the deal. For the first time, TP ICAP can now settle blockchain-based assets directly through its own accounts. Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head of Financing & Securities Services at Standard Chartered, welcomed the deeper cooperation between the two companies.

The partnership focuses on streamlining access to digital assets for institutional clients. By integrating Standard Chartered's custody technology with TP ICAP's trading infrastructure, the two firms seek to encourage broader adoption of regulated digital asset services.

The new service is now available to clients of both Standard Chartered and TP ICAP. Institutions can now trade and settle digital assets within a regulated framework. The move reflects growing demand for secure, compliant access to blockchain-based financial products.
