Flight from Dubai lands - "That's when I cried for the first time" - Stranded passengers finally land in Frankfurt after Dubai chaos

Families gathered at Frankfurt Airport on Saturday, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first Emirates flight from Dubai since tensions with Iran escalated. Among them was Heike Stephan, whose daughter Paulina Roth and her family had been stranded in the city after their planned return trip was disrupted. The flight carried passengers who had endured days of uncertainty, including alarms and explosions during their unexpected stay.

Paulina Roth, her family, and other travellers were originally on a month-long holiday to Sri Lanka, with a scheduled return via Dubai. But as regional tensions flared, their journey home was abruptly halted. They were moved to a hotel in Dubai, where rocket alarms and distant explosions left them in what Roth later described as 'sheer terror'.

At the beach, fellow passengers Kira Luipold and Annika Dossmann heard loud blasts that startled them badly. Meanwhile, Roth and her family found comfort in meeting other stranded travellers, forming a support network during the chaotic wait. Despite the fear, some passengers later downplayed the severity of their experience, focusing instead on relief at finally boarding a flight.

Back in Frankfurt, emotions ran high as loved ones reunited. Werner Vith, who had been visiting friends in Dubai, admitted the airport had been chaotic but felt safe once airborne. For Roth, the first thing on her mind was a simple joy: seeing her dog again after the ordeal.

Emirates did not disclose how many extra passengers were on the flight or where most had travelled from originally. The airline also provided no further details on the broader impact of the crisis on its operations.

The flight marked the first direct connection from Dubai to Frankfurt since the Iran conflict disrupted travel. Passengers who had faced delays, alarms, and uncertainty finally reached Germany, greeted by relieved family members. For many, the focus now shifts to recovering from the stress of their unexpected ordeal.
