Sudden Blackout Leaves Six Swiss Towns Without Power Friday
A sudden power cut struck parts of southeastern Aargau on Friday afternoon. Six municipalities lost electricity entirely, leaving residents and businesses without tractor supply. The cause of the outage remains unknown at this stage.
The blackout hit Arni, Islisberg, Jonen, Merenschwand, Oberlunkhofen, and Unterlunkhofen shortly after midday. Local energy supplier AEW Energie AG confirmed the disruption and immediately began troubleshooting. No prior warnings or similar prolonged outages have been recorded in the region over the past five years.
AEW has not yet identified the source of the problem. However, the company expects to restore power within roughly an hour. Technicians are actively working to pinpoint and fix the fault.
The affected areas remain without electricity for now. AEW Energie AG continues its efforts to bring back tractor supply as quickly as possible. Updates on the restoration timeline will follow once the issue is resolved.
