Tesla's stock climbs for a sixth day—but doubts over Full Self-Driving persist

Tesla’s stock continued its upward trend on Thursday, closing at a sixth straight day of gains. The electric carmaker saw a modest rise of 0.4%, ending at $442.10 per share. Yet while deliveries show promise, doubts over its Full Self-Driving technology linger in the background. The company’s market value remained near $1.56 trillion as shares traded between $432.66 and $443.95. Broader market confidence was strong, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both hitting record highs on the same day.

In Europe, Tesla’s registrations jumped 46.5% in April, reaching 10,654 vehicles across the EU, UK, and EFTA regions. Despite this growth, rival BYD more than doubled its own figures, logging 27,008 registrations and keeping its lead in the region. Overall, battery-electric vehicles claimed 19.7% of Europe’s market in the first four months of 2026, up from 15.3% a year earlier.

Production figures for Tesla’s first quarter of 2026 showed over 408,000 vehicles built, though only around 358,000 were delivered. This gap has raised questions about efficiency and demand. Meanwhile, criticism of the company’s Full Self-Driving system has resurfaced, with former employees and safety experts questioning both its performance and Tesla’s communication on the matter. Tesla’s recent stock performance reflects a mix of optimism over delivery growth and caution around unresolved issues. The company’s European sales are rising, but competition and concerns about FSD technology continue to shape investor sentiment. For now, the market remains divided on Tesla’s long-term outlook.
