Two men charged for flying 250 drones illegally in Mumbai's Bandra West

Two men have been charged after flying around 250 drones without permission in Mumbai’s Bandra West. The incident took place on May 28 at Wing Sports Club ground, where the drones were part of a promotional event. Police registered a case against the organisers for violating drone operation rules. The drones were operated by Boldsun Marketing Private Limited as part of a marketing campaign. Each device was valued at approximately Rs80,000. The company’s manager, Gopal Singh, and Sunil Gupta, who was responsible for securing permissions, now face legal action.

Under Mumbai’s regulations, drones cannot be flown within the Police Commissionerate’s limits without prior approval. Gupta failed to obtain the necessary clearance before the event. As a result, Bandra police booked both men under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The unauthorised operation occurred at around 9.20pm on May 28 at the Wing Sports Club ground on KC Marg, Nityanand Nagar. Authorities intervened after discovering the large-scale drone activity lacked official sanction.

The case highlights strict enforcement of drone regulations in Mumbai. Both accused now face legal proceedings for operating drones without permission. Each drone involved in the event was worth Rs80,000, adding to the financial implications of the violation.
