Two Philippine Army trainees die from heat stroke in Tarlac training

Two aspiring soldiers have died during military training in Capas, Tarlac. Johndyl Lemosniro, 21, from New Corella, Davao del Norte, and Junel Flores, 22, from Lamitan City, Basilan, suffered severe health complications after extreme physical exertion in high temperatures. The Philippine Army has since expressed its sympathy to their families.

Both trainees fell ill during the exercise and were rushed to the O'Donnell Medical Treatment Facility. Medical staff quickly performed endotracheal intubation to secure their airways and assist breathing. Despite these efforts, the two later developed brain swelling (encephalopathy) due to heat stroke.

They were then transferred to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital for advanced treatment. However, their conditions worsened, and both eventually passed away from the complications. The Philippine Army has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, health, and safety of all trainees. Stringent safety policies, medical protocols, and precautionary measures remain in place during military instruction.

The deaths of Lemosniro and Flores follow severe heat-related complications during training. The army continues to enforce safety measures to prevent similar incidents. Families of the deceased have received condolences from military officials.
