United Russia gears up for 2026 Duma elections with expanded candidate support

United Russia has announced its readiness for the 2026 State Duma elections. The party claims full preparation, with an updated policy platform and expanded support for candidates. Over 1,700 applications have already been submitted, including 506 specifically for the Duma campaign.

The party's election efforts are backed by a large network of members and supporters. With 2.653 million registered members and 938,000 additional backers, United Russia has mobilised nearly 170,000 representatives for direct outreach at the municipal level. Youth and public associations are also actively involved in the campaign.

A key part of the preparation involves gathering public input for the People's Program. Through online and offline channels, the party has collected over 16,000 proposals. The final programme will include both an election platform and a section outlining ideological principles.

United Russia has also highlighted its support for candidates linked to the special military operation. Eighty-one individuals from this group have filed their documents and will receive extra assistance. Meanwhile, the party's current faction in the State Duma holds 325 of 450 seats. Over the past two years, it has pushed through major legislation, such as expanded military mobilisation powers, stricter controls on 'foreign agents,' and constitutional changes strengthening presidential authority under Vladimir Putin.

Party secretary Vladimir Yakushev confirmed that United Russia is entering the election cycle with a clear strategy. The focus remains on maintaining its dominant position in parliament and reinforcing its role as the President's legislative foundation.

The 2026 campaign will see United Russia relying on a vast organisational structure and a detailed policy agenda. The party's influence in the Duma, combined with its grassroots outreach and candidate support, sets the stage for another strong electoral performance. Final preparations will continue as the election date approaches.
