Valve's upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset face further delays due to rising costs for memory and key components, pushing back the original release plans. Both products were initially set to launch in the first half of the year, but pricing and timing remain uncertain.

The Steam Machine was originally expected by early 2026, but soaring prices for DRAM and NAND memory have made that impossible. Valve now aims for a first-half release, though flexibility is still needed. The company has stated that the final price will match a comparable PC build, with no subsidies planned.

The Steam Frame VR headset is also delayed, and its pricing has yet to be decided. Like the Steam Machine, it depends on component availability and cost trends. Valve's earlier product, the Steam Deck, launched between $399 and $649 in February 2022, but similar DIY PC builds have since become more expensive due to ongoing shortages.

Valve has not locked in a final release date or price for either device. The company continues to monitor market conditions, leaving room for further adjustments.

Both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame now face an uncertain timeline. Their eventual cost will reflect current market prices for memory and components. Valve has ruled out subsidies, meaning buyers will pay the full price of equivalent hardware.
