Flughafen Wien Aktiengesellschaft (VIAAY) has reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2026. The company saw a 6.1% rise in revenue and an 8.2% increase in EBITDA, despite growing concerns over global instability. Passenger numbers also climbed, driven by growth in key locations.
The group’s net profit rose by 5.3% in Q1 2026, matching the same percentage increase in overall traffic. Malta and Košice led the way with the strongest passenger growth, while Vienna saw a modest 1.6% rise—partly due to Air India’s refuelling stops.
Non-aviation activities performed well, with higher de-icing revenues and no winter incentives, unlike the previous year. The company also cut costs and improved efficiency, with plans to maintain these measures throughout 2026. Rising fuel prices could push airlines to adjust capacity and raise ticket costs. The ongoing Middle East conflict adds further uncertainty for the months ahead. Still, VIAAY has reaffirmed its passenger and financial forecasts for the year, expecting no major deviations from current projections.
VIAAY’s first-quarter results show steady growth in both traffic and earnings. The company remains cautious about external risks but maintains its outlook for 2026. Cost-saving efforts and strong operational performance will continue to support stability.
