Viral temple clash in Madhya Pradesh debunked as financial dispute, not communal violence
A viral video showing a man behaving aggressively inside a temple in Madhya Pradesh has sparked false communal claims online. Police have now clarified that the incident was a financial dispute, not a religious conflict. The accused, identified as Mahesh Yadav, was arrested on 20 March 2026 after the footage was seized and investigated.
The incident took place at the Chintaman Ganesh Temple in Sehore, where CCTV captured a man entering and acting aggressively. Social media posts falsely claimed the man was Muslim and had attempted to kill a Hindu priest. However, no fatalities occurred, and the confrontation was unrelated to religion.
Police seized the footage and confirmed the accused's identity as Mahesh Yadav. A statement from the Sehore Superintendent of Police (SP) clarified that the dispute was financial in nature. Multiple media outlets also verified Yadav's identity, debunking the communal angle. On 20 March 2026, authorities arrested Yadav and registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act. He was taken into custody for further interrogation.
The police have dismissed the false narrative circulating online. The accused remains in custody, and the case is being processed under the law. Authorities continue to urge the public to verify information before sharing unverified claims.
