"Dark" rental under scrutiny: four violators caught in Vladivostok

Vladivostok cracks down on illegal apartment rentals in surprise raid

A multi-agency raid took place in Vladivostok’s Frunzensky District to check for illegal apartment rentals. Officials inspected 15 flats at 26 Tigrovaya Street, uncovering several violations in the process. The operation involved tax inspectors, city administrators, and a senior police officer.

The raid was part of Vladivostok’s ongoing efforts to crack down on undeclared rentals. Authorities regularly act on tip-offs from residents, who report suspicious activity through a dedicated hotline.

During the inspection, officials found four cases of undocumented rentals. Each violation led to an administrative report being filed against the property owner. As a result, those responsible must now declare their rental income and register as self-employed with the tax office. The operation included representatives from the Interdistrict Tax Office No. 14, the city administration, and a senior neighbourhood police officer. Their joint effort aimed to ensure compliance with rental and tax regulations in the area.

The raid highlights the city’s strict approach to undeclared rentals. Property owners found in violation must now formalise their income and meet tax obligations. Further inspections are expected as authorities continue to respond to public reports.
