Western Union acquires Singapore's Dash to expand digital wallet reach

Western Union has finalised its purchase of Dash, a well-known digital wallet in Singapore. This marks the company's first wallet acquisition in the Asia Pacific region. The move expands Western Union's global network with a trusted local platform. Dash launched in 2014 and now serves over 1.4 million users. It offers bill payments, overseas money transfers, and access to savings, investments, and insurance. The wallet remains open to all users, regardless of their bank or telco provider.

Western Union has integrated Dash into its network, which covers more than 200 countries and territories. Vince Tallent, Head of Asia Pacific at Western Union, highlighted the benefits of combining Dash's local expertise with the company's worldwide reach. He stated this partnership would broaden service options for customers.

Gilbert Chuah, Head of Financial & Lifestyle Services at Singtel, also welcomed the deal. He believes the collaboration will deliver greater value to users. Both companies aim to provide seamless, convenient, and reliable financial experiences for people in different situations. The acquisition strengthens Western Union's presence in Asia Pacific. Dash users will now access an even wider range of financial services. The combined platform is set to offer more flexibility for payments and money transfers globally.
