Wolfsburg Municipal Hospital has introduced a new imaging robot to improve surgical precision. The Loop-X system, combined with Curve navigation technology, will be used mainly for spine, orthopaedic, and trauma surgeries. The city of Wolfsburg contributed nearly €1 million to fund the advanced equipment. The Loop-X robot generates real-time 2D and 3D scans during operations. This allows surgeons to place screws and implants with millimetre accuracy, lowering the risk of unintended damage. The system's mobility also means it can be moved between operating rooms, cutting radiation exposure for both patients and medical staff.

The hospital's managing director, André Koch, acknowledged the financial backing from the city and the state. He described the investment as a key part of the hospital's transformation. The goal is to raise its profile beyond the region and attract young doctors and medical students with state-of-the-art technology.

The new system supports gentler, more precise, and safer procedures using minimally invasive techniques. Its primary applications will be in spine surgery, as well as orthopaedic and trauma operations involving the pelvis. With the Loop-X and Curve navigation in place, Wolfsburg Hospital aims to enhance surgical outcomes. The technology's precision and flexibility are expected to benefit both patients and medical teams. The hospital also hopes the upgrade will strengthen its appeal to future medical professionals.
