Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra Debuts at Kazakhstan's Prestigious Talent Summit

The Sirius-Kazakhstan International Talent Summit will launch on January 17 in Almaty. As part of the event, the Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra has received a special invitation to perform at the opening gala concert. The performance will showcase a carefully curated programme titled Music of Friendship at the prestigious Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The summit's organisers personally selected the orchestra for this high-profile event. The venue, with seating for around 1,500 spectators, presents both an opportunity and a challenge for the young musicians. Their principal conductor, Dmitry Filatov, shared his enthusiasm about taking part in the Talent Summit, calling it a significant moment for the ensemble.

The concert will feature a mix of classical favourites and a local premiere. Works by Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Khachaturian, and Rachmaninoff will share the programme with a Kazakhstan debut of Ural Suite by Ural composer Sergey Srotin. The orchestra's repertoire also includes pieces by Glazunov, Sviridov, Gavrilin, and Bizet-Shchedrin's orchestration.

This performance marks another milestone for the orchestra, which has grown with each international tour. Travelling with a full ensemble, they even carry passports for their instruments—a necessity for crossing borders. The Talent Summit series itself has already reached 12 countries, beginning with Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.

The gala concert will take place at the Abay Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre, one of the region's most renowned venues. The event offers the orchestra a chance to perform on a grand stage while introducing new compositions to a Kazakh audience. Their participation also strengthens cultural ties through the shared language of music.
